Hi all, I hope I am posting this correctly. My name is Jen and I am a single mom to one 12 year old that loves cats as much as I do. A few years ago we were asked to rescue Marcy (now 7yrs old). It was something that made so much sense at the time. Fast forward to Marcy’s diabetes diagnosis a few months ago and I am now in a DESPERATE spot of finding her a home that can properly care for her with this special need. I have been so lucky to have a vet that has given me two free vials of donated insulin, but I simply cannot afford her food any longer (fancy feast broths and Sheba pates), plus insulin, and appointments. I have tried everything I can think of, but with my own medication costs rising, I cannot even afford my own. I have reached out to DCIN and they posted Marcy for me, but I haven’t had luck in finding her a place to go. No rescues in my area will assist and our Humane Society won’t take a cat with diabetes. Our other shelter is a kill shelter. Marcy deserves help. I am in upstate South Carolina and willing to figure out how to drive almost anywhere to give her a chance. Please can someone help me figure out what to do?
