Someone sent me lantus and the Fed Ex guy dropped it off in the side of my house in the sun without knocking. The ice packs inside were barely still cold and the vial was slightly warm. It was probably out there for maybe 20 minutes to an hour but it's the morning, and it was overnight shipped. Everything IN the vial looks good and clear. Will it be ok? Is there any way to know other then trying it out?

It should still be active. Lantus is routinely left at room temperature when used for people with insulin pens. The manufacturer states that lantus can be kept about one month at room temperature safely. Being warm might overall reduce the length of time it is active for.
