Happy Sunday!
Racci is doing well today. She was nice and cheerful and cuddly this morning until meds time. She didn't want to take all her meds again and I had to chase around and give it in a few different spots. She still needs to finish her liquid meds but I'll give those in a little bit. Anyway, all p's in place and she's taking her first nap after 3 breakfasts.

I'm going to get in the tub, wash & blow my hair & then go to town to do some errands. I'm hoping Racci will eat lunch for DH since she ate her first breakfast for him. It was nice and cool this morning but is supposed to be in the 90's again today. I better get going or I never will. TTYL

Have a great day!

Sweeeet Numbers - I just love to scroll through this forum, see the nice numbers and know that one day, that could be Hershey, too!

I was reading your condo from yesterday about the meters. I sure wish there was some standard so all meters sold had to be equally reliable. We use the ReliOn Confirm now and order strips from ADW, ~$70/125 which is a good price, especially when we started out using the iPet and paying ~$1/strip!

Sure not going to let Hershey know that some kitties get 3 breakfasts! He'd LOVE that!!

Have a great day -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

It looks like a nice blue start for Racci today. I missed the discussion on meters and will have to go back and check it out! Enjoy your time downtown running errands and don't forget to do something nice for yourself, too.

Hi all!!

Hi Libby, the 3 breakfasts are actually about 2 in total. I give her frequent small meals to make it easy for her liver & pancreas to deal with and it also seems to keep her bg's down. On the days she eats less often she is higher. You might want to try cutting his meal into smaller portions and spacing it out on the days that you're home and see how Hershey reacts to it. I know several others are doing the same thing. I'm sure it will be Hershey soon. It took a long time for Racci but ECID. Some of them are OTJ in weeks! Hershey is starting to see more & more 200's now & some blues so he's getting there.
Wouldn't it be great if the meters were closer together! Right now their only requirement is to be within 20% of each other which stinks! You know whatever is allowed is what they'll take! Wow, the Relion Confirm strips are high also, aren't they? Have you checked Hocks.com? They may have a better price.

Hey Ann, we were just saying what a pain in the butt it is changing meters because they're so off and doing a few comparisons of the ones we have. It was interesting to know that what some consider good others consider not as good. I love to hear from someone who has used both and can tell me with certainty that one takes more blood than another to test or longer, etc. That's really valuable feedback. I'm ready to buy another so love hearing that. I use the Bayer Contour because it's the best I've used since the Freedom Freelance Light but there are a lot I haven't tried still and I'm not thrilled with it. The Freelance spoiled me. Too bad it wasn't reliable with the new strips.
Would you believe the weather changed to black and thundering by the time I got out of the bath? Oh well, I got some of my stuff done and am about to test Racci now. I didn't want to get caught in a downpour so made it fast. Maybe I'll do the rest of it tomorrow. Racci slept through the whole thing.

Anne, That she is. We'll see if it's blue or green now. I can't believe she slept the whole time I was gone!

Thanks for visiting you all!!

Yeah, I keep reading that others are dividing the meals into more than just 4/day. (My vet had said 2/day.) So, tonight I decided I'd try feeding 2/3 at shot time and 1/3 at +2 - AND, just realized it's +3! So, going to test at +3.5, then feed that other 1/3.

I couldn't find them at Hocks.com, but the ADW price is so much better than the price for iPet meter we used to use!

Off to order kitty food -

That IPet is really expensive. There are a few bargain diabetes supply houses online. Too bad Hocks doesn't have them. I found another new one who was very cheap also. I have to go look at the name. I've only ordered once from them so far but they shipped in two days so I was pleased with them too. Maybe they have them at a better price. They were a couple of dollars better on the Contour. I'll let you have the name when I find it.

I usually feed with each shot and then give small meals of 2% -2tsps. each 1 at +3 & 1 at +6 or 7. Sometimes she gets one more also depending on whether I wake up extra early or not and she's hungry. It helps keep her surfing and prevents her getting too low or high. Yes, I'm going to have to order more kitty food too soon. :)

Have a good night!
