Raised Joe to 3.5

Hey, look at that, you earned some sleep after your sacrifice last night!
I bet you he will stop bouncing tomorrow. I'm excited to see what the increase does. Last night was very encouraging.

Hi Smorg, I had kittens to pick up and deliver to a foster this morning. I was hoping to be back by a +3 but NO. I was able to get a +4 and he is low but not too low

I was going to the pet store to get some Tiki Cat after dark and see if it is the gums in Weruva that are giving him diarrhea. I figured if I feed something other than Weruva for 3-4 days and it cleared up, I might be able to deduce that he is allergic to the Guar Gum.
I guess I need to stay home and check him at +6 as that would be his lowest point. Right?

Wow, quite the drop from PS of 267. I'd say you should not leave and keep checking him at least every hour.
Can you give him some LC right now if you didn't after getting his 82?
And how long ago did you get the +4?

Hopefully you're off feeding Joe. As soon as you see this, please get another test, it looks like it's been at least an hour since his 82, and we know he loves to drop. @Susan Pomo

sorry about the lapse in checking back. Granddaughter just sent home from school, teacher has Covid. OMG, trying to get a Covid test and juggling Joe

white meat chicken tuscany

Ok, that is 20% I was hoping it was a little lower carb, but the important part is Joe didn't get too low.

If it were me, I'd get another test at +6 if he will allow it.
You'll want to stick around until you get a test where he is going up, most likely around +7.

Yikes!! According to that list Fancy Feast Kitten Feast is very high in Phosphorus. Another list I read said it was safe. That is his fav and I have been rewarding him with it daily. YIKES

Hmm. I wonder if the Cat Food Database list is outdated? Where did you find the other list that said it's safe?

To be clear, you want to keep testing for 2 hours after feeding high carb, just to make sure that once it wears off, Joe is still going up on his own.
I'm not sure if I was correct in saying to feed high carb that late in his cycle, but others can chime in and set it straight once they are around.
This is also why it's great to get a +2 when possible. He dropped so much today that at +2 you could have likely fed him some higher carbs to slow down his drop. The important part is he didn't get below 50 and you did great!

61 at +6.
This is supposed to be the lowest point as far as the insulin working I think
61, wow, Joe may still give you some work today!
Every cat gets a lower point at a different time, Joe could get even lower today.
Can you feed him a little low carb and then test him in 30-45 minutes?

Isn't 61 a good number?
I went back to see what Janet said on Saturday. No need to give high carb foods when he is in blue, she said. She also said she would like to see him in 80-90's.
I needed to find that.
So add a little FF medley to some food now?

I do not really understand what I am doing. It seems like it was safer to shoot him at 3.25 rather than 3.50 and all this panicking

She's correct. However, when say he drops 100+ points within an hour say early in the cycle, like at his +1, then it might be prudent to give some medium carb to slow down his drop.
When she said in the 80-90's that was likely not pertaining to near his nadir.
You don't want to feed higher carb right now. I think he slowed down his drop and 61 is good, as this may be his nadir.

OK got it. I do not know how I read "feed him some high carb" when what you actually wrote was "feed him some low carb"
when I read that wrong I panicked and went to look for what Janet said.
Then I reread your post. D'uh

Safer maybe, but not as healing for Joe. When you increase the dose, extra monitoring is needed as he gets used to the dose.
More work for mom, but worth it!

Hi, Susan. Sending good thoughts your way today. Hope things calm down for you soon and that all will be well.

In Joe's spreadsheet, the header row showing the hours on top disappears when I scroll down. I am not sure if that happens for you too, but if it does, you can fix it by "freezing" those top rows. To do so, click to left side of the row that shows the Date, AMPS, U, +1, etc. For me yours shows as the 4th row. If you click on the "4" to the left of the date, it selects the whole row. Then at the top, click View, then Freeze, then up to current row (4). Once done, you should be able to scroll down your spreadsheet but you will continue seeing the hours on top which will save you a lot of time if you are now scrolling up and down each time. Please let me know how you do.

P.S. Pro-Pectalin syringes are back in stock at Chewy.
