Please ignore--I went ahead and fed both cats a *tiny* bit of wet food because they are used to eating late. I will figure out a better schedule for Cliff's insulin meals AM/PM soon and then I either need to incorporate two snack meals or break them of their 4pm and 930-10pm eating habits.

Quick question:
Do I need to feed/should I feed Cliff again before bed?

Cliff has eaten the following meals today (all Purina pro plan true nature chicken and liver entree):
  • 6A 2.5 oz
  • 4p 3.0 oz (hubby fed more than I wanted him to at snack time)
  • 6:15p 1.25 oz (PM insulin-first dose ever)
He also got treats after each poke/shot. Tonight was his first shot, 1unit.

Just don't want to do something wrong and go to bed. He seems fine right now. Plan to give next shot between 5-530a when Hubs goes to work. Updated #s in spreadsheet.

How many hours after PM shot are you headed to bed? Can you test? I think you are okay with giving him a snack...do you normally feed him at bedtime or during the night? You would only want to slowly change your normal feeding schedule if needed.

We tested 3hrs after the insulin shot.
It's now 5hrs after the shot.

They are used to eating late/before bed. We moved up the evening meal for cliff's dose, but apparently they have already forgotten that meal! I gave them a tiny 1/4can split between two and will see them again in abt 5hrs for the AM insulin.

I used to feed my guys 3 times a day, but when Wiley was diagnosed with diabetes and CKD, I upped the feedings to 5 times a day, just smaller amounts. You'll figure it out as you go!
