Can someone take a look at Rhubarb's spreadsheet and give me some input on her numbers?
Her inital readings were with one touch ultra on expired strips (still tested within range on myself). I was also still figuring out how to test properly and she was likely stressed. I was also trying to find a food she would eat.

Assuming the new numbers are correct, I don't understand why her glucose 3 hrs after her first test is lower, despite having eaten 1/2 to 3/4 of her 2.5 oz friskies. And no insulin. She has also been eating a bit more than she was with her tests on old meter.

Those numbers show that she could use insulin but they aren't horrible. There's really no difference between the AMPS and the +3. Meters are allowed to give up to 20% variance in readings.

I really wish I knew I could home test from day 1, to know how much her numbers changed with diet alone.

She sees the vet on monday- would there be any reason for him to say she doesn't need insulin? Maybe her numbers will keep going down?

I did not test from day one either. My vet said I could if I wanted to but just to watch. At least you are on this website making the best of what you can! Idjit's mom made me feel better when I first got on here. I still do not know everything either. My kitties numbers are very high still and I have been stressed about it, going to vet Tuesday myself. Do what I do and study this website and ask for help when you need help because everyone on here REALLY CARES about the well being of your kitty.
I do not if this helps but this prayer helps me:
Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

What times of day should I be testing to see how high her glucose gets?
At what range of numbers would the vet likely say it's best to hold off on insulin?

Also, I know I am testing more than likely needed since she isn't on insulin yet, but I want her more used to it so she maybe won't be too stressed at vet. Also it will be easier when hubby does testing.

Does it make a difference that she doesn't eat her meal all at once? She eats some initially, and grazes through the day. I'm going to be asking vet about what she should be eating for food volume, but I don't think it is enough. She gets 5oz a day friskies on the floor plus a tablespoon of Thanksgiving dinner in evening. It is never completely gone. She weighs roughly 9.4 lbs right now (diff in weight holding her on my scale).

When reading the start low go slow protocol, it talks about pre shot values that are higher.
Is it going to be a waste of a vet visit when I had her in only a couple weeks ago. I was expecting insulin with numbers in 20s. Now they are 11 to 14.
