Since changing Errol onto wet food exclusively, his droppings are quite unpleasant - wet. loose and smelly. It's definitely due to the wet food and not any bacterial or viral infection.
Will this resolve over time or will he always have wet stools from now on?

Also, his appetite is greatly reduced and he's not starving and begging for food anymore. My concern is he used to eat 2/3 of his food before his shot, now he eats 1/5 at most and then grazes throughout the night, but sometimes there's a period of a couple of hours after his shot when he doesn't eat. Which means he hasn't got a whole lot in his stomach until about +4 or +5. Is this a problem, will it affect the insulin?

My cat had issues with loose stools that smelled utterly vile after eating EVO wet cat food. I switched his wet food to FF classics and the wet stool problem cleared up overnight.

It could be the brand or even the flavor of the food Errol is eating. Maybe buy a few cans of a different variety of wet food and see if this helps?

It also usually clears up after a couple of weeks on only wet. I think it's from all the dry food clearing their system and their body adjusting to the wet. With Henry, I switched him overnight and it took about 2 weeks before the smell went away.

You can add 1/8 teaspoon of plain psyllium powder (ex unflavored Metamucil) to help soak up the excess water and give more form to the feces.

A daily probiotic such as Intelliflora, Forti Flora, or a teaspoon of plain yogurt with active cultures may help, too.

How much is he eating a day? How many cans? His BG is really really good so he is no longer unregulated and it processing food correctly.. So doesn't need as much food.

Weigh him every couple weeks and watch his weight too. If he isn't losing or gaining I wouldn't worry.

I posted a long reply with weights of his food etc, and then closed the page without sending it. The silly things you do when you're tired.
Anyway, thank you all for the advice. I've got him on Protexin, hopefully that will sort out the smell in time, otherwise I'll try another probiotic. And when I manage to find a grinder and can make my own food it should also hopefully resolve the issue. Psyllium is a great idea!

Wendy, he's not eating a heck of a lot. Probably around 200g a day which equates to 7 ounces (if the conversion table is correct). Doesn't seem like enough for a 6.5kg (14 pound) cat to me, what do you all think? If I fed him stuff he loves like tuna, that might bump it up a bit, but tuna has mercury in it and is lacking in Taurine so I don't want to throw the balance out too much or get him addicted to something else which isn't that good for him. So I use it as a treat or a bribe when he is being finicky.

He doesn't care much for FF, but likes tins like Eukanuba Restricted calorie and Hills AD diet, which I had him on in the very beginning, simply because they were the only wet foods he'd eat.
