I wish I had done more research before starting him on the insulin but...
I am going to try again and change harry's diet to all canned. He is currently eating purina dm dry and getting 2units (u40) Prozinc 2xdaily. I know that he is not regulated because he is still drinking and urinating more, but he is better. I tried a few days ago to switch him over to canned but it didn't work out, I think it was to soon (for both of us  ), I now have all the testing supplies and food I need to try again.
Is this the correct way to switch??:
do not give insulin for 24hrs while switching and do a curve to moniter his bg. I have read that there is a scale for the amount of insulin to give based on the bg# - does anyone have a link for that??
My current vet is not very open to this idea so I think I'm kinda on my own with all of your help of course.
Also I found a treat by wellness called pure delights - here is a list of the ingredients- turkey, salmon, dried chicory root, cultured whey, salt, lecithin, and natual preservative- would they be ok to use as a reward??? Harry is not a big fan of the freeze dried stuff..
And one last question: Is there anyone from MA on here - I am thinking about trying to find a new vet and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
Thank you for all your help, it is very reassuring knowing there is always someone around to answer questions
