For those of you that give your kitties Cosequin, I have an inquiring, brain picking question for you. I have a bottle of the cosequin by Nutramax, and on the bottle it reads for Economical Long Term Maintenance:

"Once desired response is obtained, capsules may be administered every other day for maintenance. Number of capsules administered may be increased at any time depending on your cat's needs."

Has anyone given their cats 3 pills a day after giving them 1-2 pills for 4-6 weeks initially (or longer)? Would this mean that I can give her 1 more pill on top of the 2 that's getting currently after 6 weeks is up, or would that be harmful?

Blackie will have been on this 4 weeks this Saturday. I know she's got about another 2 more weeks to go before we see anything, if it's working more by then.

Angela, is it helping? I just got my cosequin but since Max wasn't feeling well I was afraid to try it. Did Blackie have any negative reactions at first? Elsewhere I was told not to use the ones for cats but to get the regular strength ones for small dogs and they have less added to them and no taste. Thanks.

There is no ill affects with using this on cats. I made sure that I got the one for cats by Nutramax, which is sold on Amazon.com. I'm guessing that it's working as she is moving around more, albeit still slowly.

We have been giving our civvie Tillie Cosequin for a year or more. It really has helped. We do one capsule daily, sprinkled in yogurt. Nom nom nom.

Just wondering, has anyone had their cats glucose numbers rise when on Cosequin? I started Bailey on them a few days ago and he has had two days of higher than usual glucose readings,it could be just a coincidence, but have stopped giving him as I am now wondering about the GLUCOSamine content!!!!

As I've stated above, Blackie hasn't had any ill affects from being on the Cosequin at all. Her #s didn't rise, and she's been on it since 06/12/14; PMPS meal was her first dose that day; her test that evening was 108. The only time her # did rise was the next evening's PMPS test, which was 135. The next evening it went down to 124, but after that she was doing a little bouncing. I'm guessing that her body was getting used to having something else in it other than the Zobaline, which I give to her at her PMPS meals only. In fact, I've seen her move around more since being on it almost a month ago. I think you're either experiencing a coincidence, or perhaps it's a small bounce like Blackie had as your kitty's body if adjusting to having something new in it. Give it time. It'll help to lubricate your kitty's joints. It takes about 4-6 weeks to see any results, though. However, ECID... Some cats respond quicker than others.

Thanks Angela, will give it another try,am pleased you have had good results with Blackie,my vet was sceptical as to the benefits, but as you y ECID .
