So, Steven has been in the high 200's, mid 300's, occasional 400s when we started insulin 2 weeks ago. Did his curve and I think the highest was 448.
But.
His numbers have just skyrocketed.
Now I am "happy" when he's in the low 400's in the am. He had one am at 615 (NEVER been anything like that). His insulin has been doubled (.5u 2x a day) but last night got a HI reading before his evening dose. At +4 he was at 570 and at +6 at 420.
Seeing vet Tuesday for EKG, ultrasound and check up w internal med which is managing his insulin and I'm thinking they will increase. They are informed of the numbers and message I get is carry on (until I see them) but
WHY WOULD NUMBERS INCREASE WITH DOUBLE THE INSULIN AND NO DIET CHANGE?
Nothing has changed. Same diet, same schedule. he has had several "pancreatic flares" (vet calls them) over the past few weeks, gets his daily fluids, buprenex, Mirtaz and cerenia, although at the moment holding Mirtaz as he's eating.
