One of my civvies is a very nervous fellow and will vomit if he gets stressed, especially after meals (which are almost always stressful!) so I try to remove him from the others when it's food time. Today they were particularly rambunctious and unruly and, I'm embarrassed to say, breakfast entailed a lot of Mama shouting. Poor Vinnie was very stressed by all this and started to do the pre-vomit hack but he was on my bed, so I shooed him off, and he stopped the hack and didn't vomit. That's the second time this has happened; if I interrupt him, he doesn't vomit. I think that's very weird. Anybody else have this happen, or know what's going on?

Poor, Vinnie. I have had a cat start doing that somewhere that I had to move them from, and after I moved them, they did not vomit. I assumed they were teetering on the verge of it, and after the move, the feeling passed. I have occasionally seen one start that then stop on their own without actually vomiting. I may be wrong, but I think it is just like if a person gags or has a wave of nausea but then it passes. Another thought.. if it is stress-related, maybe the shooing distracted his mind from the anxiety that was getting him worked up to vomit.

Wonder if it's similar to picking a cat up that's urinating in the wrong area. *Usually* they say if you pick the cat up s/he will stop peeing and then resume once put back down. :bookworm: Like getting picked up makes them hold everything.

Leo has done this and when I pick him up in a hurry to get him off the carpet he stops until I get him on the tile. Maybe it suddenly halts the muscle contractions that come with retching. He finishes on the tile though as soon as I put him down.

That's what I wondered. I'm pretty sure it's stress-related. If I remove all avenues of stress, he's fine, it's only when he feels stressed by the other cats that he vomits.

That's what I've always had happen, too, the continue the process at whatever place I've moved them to.

Lol, not true!!! I have one civvie who's prone to peeing in inappropriate places; if I pick him up to move him he just pees on me!
