Hi, I wonder if any of you with diabetic kitties use Advantage for fleas. My 12 year old kitty, Maggie, is completely indoor, so I was so surprised to find a little flea dirt on her comb and further combing found a flea. We have so much shrubbery around the apartments, and living on the first floor, too. I haven't had to use Advantage since she was diagnosed a year and a half ago. My Vet is closed fo the holiday, but I can purchase the Advantage at PetPeople store here tomorrow. Thanks for any feedback.

Advantage will not effect the diabetics. Like all meds. some cats may have a reaction to Advantage.

Thank you Larry and Kitties, that's what I was interested in knowing with her being diabetic. I'll watch for any side effects. It's the best medicine to get rid of the pests fast. I can't believe she got them being entirely an indoor kitty. At one time San Diego used to have a reputation as flea capitol of the world, not sure if we still hold the record! Thanks again.

What a great question, Maggie! I am putting both of my cats (1 is diabetic) into a pension while I'm going to be on holiday and I was told I needed to get them flea and tick medicine. I got the medicine from my vet so I didn't even *think* to ask if it was going to affect Neo adversely.

Thank you for asking, and thank you, Larry, for replying! I had a real ohmygod_smile moment there for not thinking about to ask. Now I will give Neo the drops a bit earlier than I had planned so I can make sure I'm still around for a few days and that nothing bad happens.

Thank you both again!

Hi and you're welcome. I hope Neo has no side effects from the drops. Have a great holiday and my thanks to Larry and Kitties, too.

Hi, Everyone ~

Just wanted to mention that I'd suggest using caution with Advantage if your cat has any neurological symptoms or problems. Although Advantage is safe for most cats, it's been found to lower the seizure threshold in some cats. We believe that's what happened to our cat Souli several years ago. As a result, our vets no longer prescribe Advantage. They've switched to Frontline instead which seems to be safer.

I'm not posting to alarm anyone because I know Advantage works well and safely for most cats.

Take care,
Eva
