Question on "tremors"

About a week ago, I saw Pumbaa try to jump up on the kitchen/feeding table, and fail and fall, onto a ceramic tiled floor. He was in pink numbers at the time.

I checked him out and he didn't exhibit any signs of pain when I moved his legs, etc.

But since then, occasionally when I pick him up, I feel these "tremors" in his lower back right flank, down near his belly. Tremors, as in, brief waves of involuntary movement of muscles or something else internal.

He walks and runs normally. But he has started NOT liking getting his skin tented back there around the flanks. Unfortunately, these are the best areas on his body right now for getting a good tent to inject the insulin. His front flanks used to be good before he put his weight back on, but tenting is almost impossible there now. And I do switch off right and left flanks for each injection.

Since I always pick Pumbaa up the same way for testing (holding him across my left shoulder) I don't know for sure that these tremors are only on his right flank.

I am now concerned enough to bring him into the vet for guidance. But I can't be sure that these tremors will be present when I bring him in, since they are intermittent. *sigh*

Does anyone else have any experience with this, to give me some clues if this is a sign of FD neuropathy or something else? Pumbaa's numbers have been high lately, but this problem has persisted when he's been surfing the blues.

Thank you all in advance for helping me out here!

This may be entirely irrelevant to your situation, depending on your BG test results, but we have experienced something similar.

When Cleo was receiving too much insulin and her BG was getting too low, she exhibited tremors/ twitches occasionally. Before we started BG testing as regularly as we do now, this was something that alerted us to the fact that her blood sugars levels were dropping dangerously low.

As I said above, your BG tests will tell you straight away if there is a similar cause behind your kitty's slight twitchiness.

Thank you, Helene and Deanie, for your thoughts.

Helene, Pumbaa was doing this even when his numbers were high, and, since it started after he fell, I figured he had maybe hurt a muscle or something. And it only happened when he stretched as I picked him up and put him over my shoulder, which is the normal position he likes to be carried in.

Deanie: When I had Pumbaa in at the vet a month ago for the changeover to Levemir, the vet looked at the panel that had been run on him in April, and said that he didn't advise running a new panel at that time since all of the numbers were what he would expect of a cat just being diagnosed with FD. But if this persists, off we will go to the vet.

Pumbaa update: I've noticed these tremors less and less in him today. I'm still thinking he might have hurt a muscle or something, as it's only when he gets in a certain position that this happens. I just picked him up for his PMPS, and there were no signs of the tremors in his back leg area. Whew! I hope this problem is gone for good!
