Dr. Lisa is it ok to give Polyglycan subQ?
Instructions on the bottle say IM.

My Vet says i can go ahead and give it SubQ.

I would like to know what you think as i trust your opinion.

I am having a difficult time giving it to Fluffy. I stick him and give a little of the medicine
and he jumps and cries out and the needle is out then.
I have to take Fluffy to Vet then to get the weekly shot most of the time.
My Vet says it will sting less under the skin.

I wanted to ask this just in case you will answer. It's worth the chance.
thanks,
maryjo

Hi Maryjo

Not Dr. Lisa of course, and Dr. Lisa has equine experience I don't have so hopefully she'll chime in. I would ask for Adequan which has been used SQ in many many cats -- Polyglycan doesn't have a similarly strong successful history of off-label use in cats and I'd worry more about it.

Thanks Jess.
I had Fluffy on Adequin for about a year and was giving it weekly for a long time.
At first it seemd to help and then i couldn't tell that it was helping at all.

I took him to an Orthopedic Surgeon and he started him on Polyglycan.
He said Fluffy's knees are causing excruciating pain and he wanted to do surgery on both
knees. The surgery is over $2000.00 for each knee and i was unable to get it done.

So Vet said he had used polyglycan in dogs with great success and he thought it would help
Fluffy. He said he had never seen a cat with these problems.
The polyglycan did seem to make him feel better for a good while. Now i just don't know.
