Question for you testing experts - I saw the image of the sweet spot, but I've marked where I typically get Max's sample. Is this incorrect/bad idea? I'm using the lancing device right now until I get the guts to free-hand it. Because I'm already nervous about hurting him, I'm concerned I'd have hesitation with free-handing the poke and then have to do over and over. With the lancing device there is already power behind it and I usually can get at the first poke, but every once in awhile two pokes because of the sample size. Max doesn't like the testing, but doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain at the actual poke (not hissing or trying to bite me). He'll jerk his head every once in awhile, but I think it's more the sound from the device.

i could be wrong, but i think the sweet spot has less nerve endings than other parts of the ear, so it shouldn't hurt. if thats the case, it might hurt a little where you are testing. lets see what others think.....

I'm new to this and have only used the free hand poke. Seems you barely touch the ear and I get blood. I'm afraid to use the Lancet poker thing cause I don't know how deep it's going. My cat has been really good even when I sometimes have to poke her more than once. She gets more mad when I pick her up.
