Question about testing blood sugar and weird numbers, lol.

What do the +1 +2 +3..etc numbers mean? What are people referring to when they are saying that? For example:

"Kitty should be monitored closely the first three days when starting Lantus or Levemir. Initially, blood glucose levels should at least be checked at pre-shot, +3, +6, and +9. More monitoring may be needed."

are those hours? So they're saying the bgl should be checked at pre-shot, 3 hours later, 6 hours later, and 9 hours later?

Right!

The + cells correspond to the number of hours since the shot...so if you shoot at 6am, that's the AMPS...then if you test again at 9am, that's 3 hours since the shot, so the test goes in the +3 cell....if you test again at 1pm, that's 7 hours since the shot, so goes in the +7 cell...all the way up to +11 and then it's time for the PM cycle and it all starts over
