That's good information from the vet about fluids. I think most members are aware of being attentive to giving fluids if a cat has cardiac issues. I wonder if this is the
paper the vet was referring to? If so, it may have greater implications for blood pressure management. Maybe the vet would share the reference. I suspect the paper may be relevant since Max is taking meds for his blood pressure.
I would try the product the vet recommended. Just because not many people here are familiar with it doesn't mean it isn't worth a try. As Suzanne noted, her cat may not have liked it but Max may. And frankly, if it is something that works well for your cat, you will have helped us all by having more information about what to do for cats where sub-Q fluids aren't recommended.
For what it's worth, we encourage members with acro kitties to follow tight regulation as far as managing their blood glucose. The challenge with acro kitties is that no two cats have the same organs involved.
I like this
website for information on IBD. In the section on Feline Nutrition and Health, they provide information on
foods to avoid. I actually thought there was more information on each of the items but there isn't (sorry!). They also have a Facebook page that is fairly active and you could always pose a question there. Also, if what you're feeding Max is working, don't worry about it.
