Hi everyone - I know it has been a while - I have a question if anyone can help. My civvie Clancy has not been eating his wet food the last few days, and has not had a bowel movement in 2-3 days (unless it is hiding somewhere). I am away on vacation , my kitty sitter let me know - she gave in and fed him some dry - so he would have some food in his tummy. He has had freeze dried chicken treats - just not interested in his wet food - whic is not really like him. Does anyone know something we can try to give him in case he is maybe constipated? She has made sure he has had some water (using a syringe to give him some just in case) but says there has been urin in lb and that water level is going down etc. I asked her to feel his belly to see if there is discomfort - haven't heard yet but she said he does not act sickly at all other than not wanting to really eat (wet) or poop. Could maybe be stress cuz I am away? but he was a touch under the weather the day I left. I asked her to take him to vet tomorrow or to call in the am if no progress. Any advice?

I hope you're doing well. I miss seeing you around these parts!!

I've used Miralax. It's available at any drug store. Use between 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon twice a day mixed into food. You might need your DPS to mix it in a little bit of water and syringe it if Clancy isn't eating. I'd add water to the food, as well. It's not the "usual" type of laxative. It works by getting more water into the bowel. Jojo has advised people to use 1/4 teas. initially and taper it back to 1/8. My vet had me go the other way.

Hi Leslie. I hope you are enjoying your vacation. You are very missed. I think of you often and hope you are doing okay.

I occasionally use Miralax (I bought it at the grocery store). 1/8 tsp. It works. But the cat needs to drink extra water, too.

Miralax in the US is Restoralax in Canada - white bottle with purple label. I use it too. Sienne's dose is right. 1/4 to 1/8 tsp. I hope this helps.

Thank you all so much! I am on the other side of the country and it is so tough to be far away and not be able to see him or have control over situation and not knowing what to suggest etc.- you were the first place I thought to call on - and here you all are - THANK YOU! Miss you all too :) Need to chek in and see what is going on and how everyone is doing more often

Hi Leslie
Hope you are enjoying your vacation.
I think it is also called Laxaday here in Canada. Picked up a pink/white bottle at
walmart in the human laxative section.
I use 1/8 tsp twice a day but you need to make sure to add the water if you
are putting it in the food.
