Question about insulin

I just read something for the first time that I had never heard of regarding the " repackaging" of insulin that you buy from the vet.i purchase my prozinc from the vet and wondered if they are allowed to do such a thing.Do they get a large container of it and fill bottles themselves? And what about the integrity of it at that point? I kind of wondered as it doesn't seem I'm seeing much of a drop in numbers yet,but it has only been a week at 1 unit twice daily. I also noticed that the box it came in was not sealed and asked a pharmacist about theirs and was told that their boxes are all sealed.Im a suspicious person by nature and don't trust doctors and wonder if they could even be diluting it.I have a Lantus prescription that is on file at pharmacy and I am thinking of switching to it when this vial is finished up.It is more than twice the cost, but have been hearing and reading such good things about it,and feel it would maybe be worth the extra money for my baby boy.

Not a problem. Prozinc is different from Lantus in that it's an animal use only insulin whereas Lantus is a human use insulin. So your pretty much stuck with Prozinc buying either from your vet or a veterinary pharmacy online.

Yes,I was aware of what you are saying , but do you have any feedback on that" repackaging business" ? I just want to feel more confident in the quality and handling of it and I guess I trust my pharmacist more than this vet( am planning on switching when I can, have heard too many bad things about them) this is why I would rather not purchase from them..very distrustful. Thanks.

I honestly can't tell you as I've never used Prozinc all of mine have either been Lantus or levemir cats and always purchased from a script at a pharmacy. Perhaps someone on health or the PZI board would have more insight.
