I ordered Ricky's Lantus from Northwestpharmacy.com in Canada. The order was processed and shipped by European Pharmacy and I found out the insulin is shipping from Turkey. I don't know whether I should be concerned about the quality of the Lantus.

Has anyone else ordered Lantus from Northwest Pharmacy and had it shipped from Turkey? Was the insulin you received actually Lantus and were there any issues with it? I know that there is a longer transit time, but just want to make sure that I am going to receive what I ordered.

Also, did the insulin you receive have the brand name Lantus or did it have a different name?

Good question.

I always bought Blondie's Lantus from Costco and you don't have to be a Costco member to use they're pharmacy by the way. It was the best price around and especially when I went up to Canada and bought it at the Costco up there while I was boating up in the Vancouver island area. I always got the pens and never needed a prescription up there. The last box of Lantus 'pen cartridges' I bought were from up there and it was $98.00 a box!

Evidently, Lantus is manufactured in Germany.

I know that I would definitely feel uneasy about an order coming out of Turkey because it's a long way and who knows how it'll be handled on it's way to me. If they haven't shipped it yet, I'd cancel the order and get it at Costco or Sam's Club, whichever is closest to you.

Edited to add... Just thinking here but Turkey isn't all that far from Germany so I'm sure your absolutely getting the real deal. There is only one place it is manufactured. So I wouldn't worry about it. And it has to go through the same shipping treatment as anything coming from Europe so scrap what I said about what I said in the above paragraph. The company most likely orders tons of Lantus and has better import/export fees if it's going through Turkey so that is most likely why it's being shipped from there. V

I have seen other posts on this board that people ordering from canada actually get the insulin shipped through Turkey. As long as it is manufactured by Sanofi its the real deal. The manufacturer guarantees that the insulin is good for 28 days after opening the tab. I think the pens are better then the big vials because you don't pop the tab until your ready to use it. I think getting it through Canada is a much better deal because there they negotiate with drug companies on their cost - where in the US the companies can charge whatever they want while the drug is under patent protection.

Musette's lantus was purchased from them and came out of Turkey. Yes it was the real deal and not only did it make the long commute in great shape it even arrived still cool to the touch as it came packed in a nice styrofoam cooler with plenty of ice packs and bubble wrap around it.

That makes me feel better about my order.
