My vet mentioned this the other day when I told her that my cat seems to have decreased appetite the day after his leukeran. Have others used it? Is it a powder? And where would I get it?If I remember to give his pepcid b4 his dinner and leukeran after, its not so bad, but I figure that another management option is always a good idea.

I have not used it, but lots of people here do. Here is what Dr. Lisa says about it:

Try a product called FortiFlora. Most cats LOVE FortiFlora and this has recently become my favorite trick. This is a probiotic made by Purina but you are not going to use it for its probiotic properties. You are just going to use it as a flavor enhancer. The base ingredient in FortiFlora is animal digest - the very substance that makes dry food so very enticing to cats. The directions say to use 1 package/day - and you can use this much if you want to - but this amount is not usually necessary. You may only need ~1/4 of a package - or less - with part mixed into the food and part sprinkled on top of the food just as you would use salt and pepper on your own food.

One on-line place to buy it is Pet Nutrition Products.

But a box of packets. You can get it by the packet from vets, but more
expensive of course.

It's handy to have on hand.

Do a google search for it and you will likely turn up other sources.

Yes, I use it for Minou, my civie with IBD. It is a powder that you sprinkle on the food. I have convinced her to try many foods she turned her nose up at by sprinkling it with Forti-Flora. I would suggest mixing it lightly into the top layer of food. Otherwise, he may just lick off the powder.

I always keep some on hand...my cats LOVE it! They also love freeze dried chicken livers so I just crumble a little on their food and they dive into it.

Thanks so much. I think I'll get a couple of packets from my vet ($1 per pack) and see how he likes it. Then I'll look for a bulk purchase.
