Question about doing a curve

I'm a little confused. When you do a glucose curve, do you feed the cat during the day? Will food cause the BG to rise and give inaccurate results?

Yep feed as normal. It might cause small spikes so if you want, you could feed right after you do one curve test, and by the next time you do one 2-3 hrs later the food would have worn off. It's not really important though.

Thanks!!! I'm still learning and I'm trying to bumble through as best I can. It helps so much to get advice from people with experience. My cat will be glad to know he doesn't have to starve all day!

You don't want to make any changes to your normal everyday routine because you are wanting to know how the dose and the insulin are working ... you want to see if your cat has food spikes because some do not... you want to see when your cat's nadir occurs, or the general vicinity.

By knowing how your cat reacts to food, you can make some adjustments and spread out the food into smaller meals and/or at diff times. By spreading out the feedings, you will see more even / level curves in many cases.
