Hi guys, I want to make sure Choco is ok. When I tested him before his dinner he was at 55 and now 2hrs later he is at 50. When he was on insulin, his lowest points did usually fall between +2 and +3 so I did expect his number at this point to be a little lower. I guess I'm just concerned because this is pretty low for him since he has been OTJ and want to make sure he's not doing something weird that I don't know about. Kind of like the DKA episode and we ended up in the ER. :? Thanks for any advice!

No worries, Maria! That's a perfectly normal number, and there's no risk of hypo when you are not giving insulin. (There is a disease that can cause hypo without giving insulin, but it's rare!) Some kitties run lower than others, there have been kitties who ran in the 20s when OTJ and were perfectly fine. I would not worry unless you see hypo symptoms.

Phfewwww, thanks Laurie. I know when he was testing low when he was on insulin he seemed to be hungry and tonight he is also acting very hungry but nothing other than that. I just fed him AGAIN (although each of the 3 meals have been small) so he should be set for the night. Thanks again!

I haven't been here that long. But the lowest number I have gotten on Noxin so far was a 52, five days after his last shot. It has now been ten days since his last shot and he is happy as a clam.

Edit: P.S. Choco's SS is so pretty ;-)
