It's been a few weeks since I've posted on the forum, but Maddy has recently started a course of antibiotics and I have a question about her BG and insulin levels.
Maddy has been diet controlled for a little over a month. Two weeks ago, my partner tested her and got higher than usual BG numbers (180-190). I was out of town at the time, but when I returned last week I tested her and she was at 217. I assumed that she had fell out of remission and started her on .25 units of Lantus twice a day. We took her to the vet last week for a blood and urine analysis, and she was diagnosed with a UTI. The vet prescribed a course of Baytril (Enrofloxacin) for ten days.
We are now on day four of the Baytril and her numbers have gone up and come down and gone up again. I've mostly kept her insulin at .25 to support her pancreas during this time. Has anyone else have experience with this particular drug? If so, how did it affect your cat's BG levels?
