Q about Buddy vet visit later today

Buddy had P-titius 2 weeks ago and still on pepsid and metronidazole. he was feeling alot better until a few days ago. Now again he is isolating and vomited twice this week, unlike him, and he is eating only about 2 oz. per day. usually he eats 5-6.oz.
he has an appt with vet today. Vet wanted to take Ultra sound of pancreas but wasn't able to coordinate that with rotating schedule of US man,
so need to wait till another time. (altho' not sure how thta will be helpful?).
His bg #'s are terrible...even more rebound than usual...one day blue two days red. Anyone have any idea whats going on?
I heard about R...thinking I should use it when he is so high..is thta by presciption? what does it stand for? If anyone can suggest a question to ask the vet I would love to hear it. I dont have much faith in the vets ability to treat diabetes, other than book knowledge.

I had my vet do a Spec fPL test, which is supposed to be a fasting test, and sent out for the results which you should get back in a day or two.

J.D. gets Pepcid for acid tummy, if his tummy is empty in the morning, he throws up clear fluid (bile).
He also gets Ondansetron for nausea. I have heard of lot of vets and pharmacists ask when they hear the word Ondansetron if he is throwing up, but nausea doesn't necessarily mean actually throwing up. I can tell when J.D. has nausea when he is interested in eating and goes to his food bowl, and then sniffs and walks away, or licks his lips and walks away.

I would not give any appetite stimulants unless nausea is addressed, first.

R is a short acting insulin that is often used during DKA treatment by vets to bring a cat's BGs down fast. It is very powerful and can be dangerous if used without guidance. I would try to find someone with experience in using R to help you, before you attempt to give R (it stands for Regular insulin). If you use it, you will need to test every hour for 4 to 6 hours at first, to see how it is affecting him. I can give my cat 0.01 units, or sometimes right at the zero line (1 tiny drop), and he will sometimes dive down 300 points in 2 hours.

Awww poor Buddy...sorry I dont have any advice but am sending prayers for lil Buddy.
