I just talked to a pharmacist at VPA and he says the PZI is getting harder and harder to get. They've been out of the U-100 for weeks now and are scrambling to get some. When (and if) they do get it, they said they'll probably have to double their price on it (from $49 to $100). They still have U-40 in stock at the old price, but when they run out their stock of that they'll probably have to raise the price on it also. He said the government is determined to get PZI off the market and it looks like it is working. He says he knows people may not buy it at $100 at bottle and they may have to get out of the PZI market altogether.
He said human insulins may be the only choice people have soon...he said they are very expensive as well. He asked me if I would still be willing to buy PZI if the price was doubled....I said if the alternatives were as expensive as he says they were that I probably would.
Has anyone else heard anything about this? Is the same thing going on with BCP?
