So my cat is in remission and has been since April. He lost a lot of weight when he became diabetic. In August he was diagnosed with CKD. He feels like he has lost even more weight since then. He is eating a couple different varieties of Weruva canned cat food which are both low carb and low phosphorous for the CKD. The problem is he has never loved wet food very much and isn't eating enough to keep weight on. He eats 1.5 - 2 cans per day but he is a big cat. Is there any dry food (he loves dry food) that is low carb / phos. that I can add into his diet (with mostly canned food) to help him gain some weight without negatively impacting the diabetes and CKD?

I also posted on the CKD forum but thought I would post here too in case anyone here has suggestions since a lot of people there aren't experienced with feline diabetes.

Any other suggestions for me?
Thanks!!

Check the data on:
Evo Cat & Kitten dry
Stella & Chewey's freeze dried
Young Again 0 Carb (5% the way we calculate it, internet only)

And check Tanya's Feline CRF page

Canned would be best for him, though. Maybe sprinkle crumbled dry over it.

I looked up the EVO cat and kitten dry food but it looks to have high levels of phosphorous. I can't seem to find the phosphorous levels for the Young Again food. Anyone happen to know this?

You'll have to contact them yourself.
Website

I've used their web contact form to ask the question about the as fed phosphorus content. I identified myself as a member of this message board.

Please let us know what you found out about the info on Young again. As I too would like to put some weight on my skinny boy.
Thanks

I looked into how much the YA cat food would cost for Canada and it is over $80 for the small bag :S. I ended up taking a trip to the states and bought him Friskies Special Diet Turkey and Giblets because we don't have it here. I have been feeding him a can of Weruva in the morning and Friskies at night and he seems to be doing well. In just the past week he feels like he may have gained some weight and his fur is looking a lot better then it was before. He has had very stringy dull looking fur and he feels much softer and his fur is looking a little better. He has also been waking me up every morning climbing on me and rubbing his head against me which he hasn't done much in the past while :). I know its only been a week and a bit but I think I see an improvement :).
