Purina canned food list

Hi everyone, i had seen a very old post about another member having the carb content list of Purina canned food. I have tried to contact her and get the list but she has not responded back to me. Does anyone else have that list or know where i can find it? Tigger is staring to become very picky and i would love to see what my other options are!

thanks in advance

Annemarie

Maybe the other person was referring to Binky's charts? http://binkyspage.tripod.com/canfood.html Some of the Purina brands are listed there, like Fancy Feast.

Can you post the link to the post where the Purina list was referred to? Sometimes people change their email addresses and don't update their FDMB account info so they aren't receiving email notification of messages. Some people just stop posting here after awhile for whatever reason.

If you haven't seen this one already, here's the Pet Food Nutrional Values list that has some of the higher end foods on it.

Which Fancy Feast variety is medium carb?
by tessielou » Tue Mar 15, 2011 9:08 pm

Hi, my girl just surprised me with an all time low PMPS: 141. I went ahead and shot her 1.5 u, but I want to be ready if she drops low with the right carb level food. Does anyone know which Fancy Feast varieties are medium carb? I have a can called Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Salmon (not Classic) but can't find it on any food charts. If I don't have a medium carb food on hand, how much syrup/Karo shold I add to her low carb Fancy Feast?

Thanks!

The stuff with gravy is typically a higher carb. I wouldn't be able to tell you a percentage or anything! But I'm sure someone with more experience will come along shortly. They'll be able to answer your Karo question :3

The FF Gravy lovers salmon is a high carb food. On their list, it says 4.5 % - but that is not the dry matter basis. When converted it's over 20%.
Keep an eye on your girl.

Wow! Thank you Jayne. I knew gravy meant carbs, but I didn't realize it was so high. I will definitely keep close watch on her tonight. This is her lowest numbers ever. I don't know if she will drop after +2, but right now she's at 164. I plan to check again at +3 (in 5 minutes).

Do you happen to know what Fancy Feast variety would be considered medium carb?

Thanks again,

I have a list from Purina for all their foods. If you PM me your e-mail I will gladly send it. (It doesn't go thru the board, I guess the file is too big)

Under 10 is low carb and over 18 is high carb so everything between those are medium carb There's a few of the "old" FF that are medium carb: http://binkyspage.tripod.com/CanFoodOld.html Most of the FF Elegant Medleys are medium carb: http://binkyspage.tripod.com/CanFoodNew.html

Ok, thanks squeem3, that's what I needed to know. Just want to be prepared for if/when he numbers get down in that scary low range.

I give 1/8 tsp. I keep the Karo and a 1/8 tsp measuring spoon on the table where I test. I measure out 1/8 tsp and let my cat lick it off the spoon.

Looks like Jayne and Sweety has the list. Her profile says she last visited FDMB earlier this week. Was it her you sent a PM to?

I'm still around, guys. I sent you the list Anne Marie, did you get it?
The board doesn't always tell me I have PM's. Now I know to check. It could say zero when I get to the board, and there could be one there.
Also, with Sweety being sick, I didn't have the patience to deal with the slow computer and I only came here once, and only to post my sadness on Grief. I didn't check my inbox. Sorry.
Yes, I'm still here.

Is there a way to combine all the different food lists and have it available on the board so anyone can update/add to it? Just a thought since we all rely on the food information and foods are always being introduced or "new and improved". :-D

Oh, good thought  I've noticed that some long-time members will always refer to Binky's but not the Pet Food Nutritional one, out of habit I guess. Combing all the food charts into one document would be so much easier for newbies to look through. I don't think it would be too hard to do such a thing, just a matter of copying and pasting and editing all the info into a spreadsheet. Then organizing all the food info in some way (by brand? by "new" or "old" status?) Then Rebecca or a mod would have to update the food link thread to add in the new document but also keep the links to the original charts. I don't know if one would have to get permission from Janet and whoever made the Pet Food Nutritional Values chart in order to do this?

This might be a good topic to discuss further on Think Tank
