Pumpkin pt3 - archive

I am switching back and forth on the Mirataz ears but cleaning them with warm water and a dry paper towel inbetween as I was told it's not good to use the same ear over and over. I usually prick the inside of the ears as her fur makes it difficult on the outside but tried doing the outside with the same issue of it sucking into the fur or just not drawing anything half the time.

It's very peculiar but I think it is related to the Mirataz residue (or at least hoping it isn't something wonky going on with her blood) and I think she is also still dehydrated to a degree. If I understand correctly, despite getting fluids, it still take a while to work its way through so we just need to wait to administer at appropriate times. I know dehydration first hand though as I passed out while getting a blood draw from dehydration, wasn't fun!
To be able to see the drop of blood, I have a small flashlight I place in my mouth while I poke, this can be the reason for the bruising, the inside skin is softer than the outside of the ear, and yes, you switch ear every day for the MIRATZ, I have used the same ear as I said earlier for 3 years, and Corky's ear aside from a light discoloration on the tip of the ear, his ear is as perfect as her not touched right ear, you can find a small sock fill it with some rice, tie it making a small ball to cup the inside of the ear, it will be easier than using tissue or paper towel, and you have better control at poking:bighug::bighug::cat::cat:

I was pretty miserable at poking when I started but realized that warming the ear and milking it helped a lot. With her dehydration it hardly does anything at all though. I haven't heard about the sock with rice for controlling it before! I'd like to get more used to doing the outside of the ear but got so used to the sweet spot inside her ear. Would make it easier to get to since no kitty wants an ear flipped.

Will start a new thread here shortly. Pumpkin update: lots of peaceful sleeping. I know snoring isn't a good thing but she seems comfortable so I'm happy.

No worries! I've been linking the threads inbetween but haven't been putting continuation in the front. Will do that this time.

New thread!
