Yes - we will do that when my boyfriend has a work at home day or this weekend. (he is the one who tests Pumpkin) I texted the vet and waiting to hear if he wants to increase again. Pumpkin is sleeping peacefully on my printer. As always, thanks for the support!!

Hi there, it's great that you are seeing improvement in Pumpkins behaviour, that's a good sign, makes me wonder if he is getting into lower numbers than you are catching. I second Wendy's suggestion on getting some midcycle tests, some kitties can drop dramatically into nadir and be back up in the pinks by the next preshot.

Personally I would also recommend that you always get a test before you give insulin to at least know he if he is high enough to shoot safely, I know you've said your vet suggests to only get it every few days, but my question is this, if your vet was giving their child insulin, would they shoot blind??? I think not.

We will definitely do that as we increase and get closer to regulated. My vet is cautious and would not put Pumpkin in danger. We always test a lot after an increase. We will definitely be doing a midcycle after we increase. I wish there was an easier way to test. Fortunately Pumpkin has gotten more used to it and happily gets his tuna treats when tested.

I'm sorry, but I can't see where this is happening on the ss as that is all we have to go on, perhaps there is some data missing?

I think that the point that we are trying to make is that, with the limited data we are seeing on the ss it is impossible to be able to tell how low Pumpkin is getting on this dose, and therefore how safe this dose might be, the fact that he is feeling better and symptoms of diabetes have improved would suggest he is getting into lower numbers than you are catching. If you take a look at George's ss and click on the 2015 tab you will see how when he first started getting into lower numbers he would bounce up and down, and George wasn't particularly a bouncy cat, if I had been testing every 3 day without any midcycle tests it is likely that I could have taken him up to dose that was higher than he needed, running the risk of his BG crashing. Please don't think that I am suggesting that you need to test as much as I did, I was at home with George and a self confessed testaholic:oops:, but with my hand on my heart and with Pumpkins best interest and safety in mind please consider at the very least testing before every insulin shot.

Well I'm off to bed now, hope you and pumpkin have a good day.:bighug::bighug:
