Hello!

Carl, thank you for your cycle comments. I'm trying to stick with 1.8 shots for a few cycles (didn't manage it last night, lowered to 1.6). Next, hope to go down to 1.6 for several days. His AMPS today was 426 -, and +4 was 322. Pudge had a good run yesterday, even with food in his belly! Seems to me that he does best with small frequent meals/snacks. A diabetic thing, isn't? I'm so hoping for pancreatic reawakening! Come on! Don't sleep on the job! Pudge needs you!!! Unfortunately, I blew the AM 2/7 and today's (1.8) shots - both were furries! I've switched the shot location to his belly where he has white downy fur, so no excuses, I simply withdrew the needle too soon causing the insulin to ooze out of the squeezed syringe. My gut tells me that ProZinc does not last long enough in Pudge, though he responds well to it. Not enough data? Sure! But gut is gut!

Thanks for the Weight Watchers' scale comment. It will go well with my baby scale! Lori, your food/weight suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks for my welcome. I'll be grateful for all comments and thanks for your time.

Re: Pudge 2/9

Hi Sophie
The AM cycle yesterday was very nice on 1.8...wondering if you had stuck with it last night if him amps the morning might have been pink...

Yes the small frequent meals seem to agree with many cats. Human diabetics are encouraged to eat that way I believe. As long as you note it, which you have been doing, it helps make sense of the mid-cycle numbers.
Unfortunate about the fur shots. They always seem to happen right when things are starting to make sense!

It looks like most of it went in with the +4 you got. Let's see where he goes from here...

Re: Pudge 2/9

Hi Sophie,
Looks like you get nicer surfs on the 1.8....
Aer you thinking of going back up?
why did you lower?

Re: Pudge 2/9

Hello! Right, Carl, will try to stiffen my spine at night and keep on the 1.8 highway!

Donna (hope I have the right name), I lowered to 1.6 last night because I needed to sleep for some uninterrupted hours. At 1.8, my nightly visit from Chicken Little was dancing in my head. I know that Pudge was not in danger but...heck I sure worry about both the high and lower numbers. I'll have to pluck up my courage! I do hope for the lower numbers and see them coming, I think, but I get scared. I plan to shoot 1.8 tonight unless his PMBS is below 175. My 1.6 comment applies to my Hope Springs Eternal thinking and getting Pudge off insulin! Thank you.

Re: Pudge 2/9

Let us know the number at shot time?
I would go with 1.8 if he's over 300, but not on a 175

Re: Pudge 2/9

Huge oops! I actually have a notebook set up with reams of FDMB information sheets. Now that I have my glasses on... Thanks, Carl, will do.

Re: Pudge 2/9

Good evening,
His PMPS is 400 and I plan to shoot 1.8 in about 30 minutes. Thank you all for your help.
Good night and hugs to all kitties and bipeds,
Sophie

Re: Pudge 2/9

Sophie,

Sounds like a good plan you have. I understand about having the "spine" to give the higher doses, especially at night. I'm very cautious about everything and have worried a lot in the beggining and got myself very sick. I've learned the hard way, go low and go slow. It is hard to be patient when your kitty is hurting and all you want is for him/her to get better. Believe me, it will get easier and you will become more confident with every cycle. Just know we all are here with you and support you.

Have a great cycle!!

lori

p.s.
I'm always the night owl here, so if you every need to talk i'm usually around this time at night.

Good evening Lori,
thanks for your kind comments. I'm actually considering switching to a 3 times per day shooting schedule for Pudge because of all the pinks and reds, as well as, duration issues. He must feel like a dizzy yo yo and pincushion! I need to switch his bid schedule, move it back, by 3 hours since I've followed his hospitalization schedule (9am & 9 pm) which I find is more suited to my vet's office hours than my life, anyway. Currently, am busy making one household out of two and that's hard work so I apologize for not thanking you until now for your sweet offer of talking. My present location is connected to the internet but not the new location, it's being remodeled... big groan! So my internet time is limited but am looking forward to talking to you in the future! Thanks again.

Hope you have a peaceful night and good numbers,
Sophie

I see some nice numbers in your ss, Sophie..He has some nice nadirs. I would be reluctant to go TID. Usually a TID kitty is moving back up at 6-8 and high at preshot. He doesn't seem to have a consistent pattern of that. Several days last week (2/8) and this week, he has had a lovely cycle.

I wonder if he would do well with a sliding scale. Robin can set you up with one.

Thank you, Sue! I'll do as you advise and ask Robin (don't know how she does all that she does!) for a sliding scale for Pudge...though I'm uncertain if I can post as often as some others here do since I'm also taking care of my 92 yo stepfather whose house is without an internet. I do try to read all the posts and am learning lots from specific questions and answers. Pudge's ss is maddening. I was an analyst in my working life. It's both tough and humbling not understanding his BGs' meanderings.
