PU/PD Reduced with Regulation?

Do people tend to see a reduction in PU/PD symptoms once a cat's insulin is regulated? Maybe the answer to that question should be obvious, but I want to know what to expect. My cat does have CKD, so PU/PD will always be an issue, but will diabetic control help reduce that?
 
Depends on what stage the CKD is. If it is still early stage then the ability to concentrate urine is better and there will be less drinking/urination than if the CKD were advanced. As a general rule CKD cats typically drink/urinate more. You may see some decrease but don't be surprised if it picks up again. Squeaker is Stage 4 and in addition to daily fluids, water added to his food, he still drinks at least a cup of water every day and I use 20 lbs of scoopable litter every week. Your best bet is to continue to monitor BG at home.

Thanks for the feedback. I go through a ton of litter, too, and a ton of floor, unfortunately. Noah's been peeing where he wants to, lately. Time to invest in a few more litter boxes, I guess. I hope Squeaker's doing well.:cat:
 
The peeing on the floor almost always clears up with regulation. If it is from the diabetes. CKD can also cause them to go outside the LB though. More litter boxes and even some pee-pads may help. Our CKD girl will use the pee-pads if available, she actually prefers to pee on something on the floor than just bare floor :rolleyes:
