Three times in the last 30 hours she has been projectile vomiting extremely. I have never seen the amount of fluid with small bits of food come out of anything that small before.
30-40 minutes before every three times she start licking her lips. Then she vomit, every time the vomit come up over 2-3 times. After she seems fine, starts by drinking water and then begging for food. Happy cat again. Until next time. She poops, purrs, clean herself, pee, play. Nothing seems wrong except for the massiv vomiting.
Getting worried since she will get dehydrated if this continues and she isnt getting enough food either.
So just hoping she will do ok til tomorrow so we can go to the vet. Trying to avoid going today since its extra pricy.

She had different kindsof food all three times so food allergi it cant be.

Any ideas of whats going on?

Charlotte - Oh, I am so sorry to hear about poor Prop! I sure hope she gets to feeling better.

Has she had blood work to test for kidney disease? I had to take another cat, John, to the vet yesterday and he tested extremely high for kidney disease. The vet asked me 3 or 4 times if he had been vomiting. I hope it's nothing serious like that for Prop! :YMHUG: Please give us an update after her vet visit tomorrow!

Prop had bloodwork done about a month ago. She has some kidney problems, but her numbers hasent gotten any worse in the last two years, so i dont suspect that unless something had been speeding it up the last month.

Hope John get better soon too.

Charlotte,

She could also be having a bout of pancreatitis. Hopefully she will get better soon. They do have a test for pancreatitis. Its called a Spec fPl test.

You might try 1/4 of a plain Pepcid AC to see if it helps calm her stomach. It only helps for acid, but it could be worth a shot.

Over at Feline CRF, there are a number of options described for renal cats with upset stomach - slippery elm bark and aloe are 2 things which may calm an upset GI tract, regardless of cause.

Check your food cans - there could have been a change in the contents of a production batch which is like having a food change. Done abruptly, those may trigger vomiting. I had that happen with Wellness one fall; Mel had it happen with Friskies, if I recall correctly. And of course, sometimes companies have a problem with production and the food might have become contaminated with something infectious due to poor processing. Could be worth a call to the company to see if anyone else is reporting it.

Hi Charlotte
I'm so sorry Prop is sick . Sending healing thoughts and hugs to you both.
Prop,please get well fast.

So sorry that Prop is sick. What you are describing is exactly what Calley does on an almost daily basis. All of her bloodwork has come back normal except the diabetes/sugars.

I'm at a loss myself. I hope you and your Vet can figure it out.

You guys are in my thoughts. :)

I hope so to Kristin, so frustrating not knowing whats wrong.

Thanks everybody, have been taking notes and will bring to the vet tomorrow.

Hi Charlotte and Prop,
I'm so sorry to hear that sweet Prop is sick. That vomiting is awful. It sounds just like when Noodle had pancreatitis, and he also did that lip-licking thing. I called it his "early warning system" and I knew what was coming. I hope that the vet gives you some good help and that baby Prop is much better soon. Thinking of you both. Please keep us posted.

Christi

More likely a cause - whatever process attacks the pancreas may not be selective and may destroy any pancreatic tissue - insulin secreting or digestive enzyme secreting.
