I haven't had a chance to update Zoey's spread sheet to her new one, but is anyone using the Relion prime? I tested it against a few of our bayour contour readings before we ran out (seemed to be off by about 10). But the price is good. The last few readings have seemed weird for me. But I know that numbers won't always be comparable and we have to look for trends. I just want to make sure she's doing okay with her meter before we have to board her for a few days at the vet next week (we're going out of town and relatives are not available to watch her).

A lot of people here use the relion meters. They are pretty reliable. Meters do vary, both between brands and amongst themselves. Even if you test the same blood sample with the same meter a few times you will get different results. I think a variance of 10 is really good. Usually meter companies quote 20%.

I use the Prime and I haven't had any complaints. I get the strips online via the link at the top of this page - easy breezy!!

The FDA (in the USA) allows meters to be within 30% of the lab value.

This graph shows how the range of potential true values widens as the number gets higher.
This table shows numbers, with the +/- 20%.

Thanks for those links to those 2 graphs you created. I've added them to my favorites list in a new subfolder within my Feline Diabetes folder, new folder called Testing. That way I can easily find them amongst all the many diabetes links I have.

Thanks for doing those graphs.
