It can be a little painful for them. But everyone does it sometimes. It usually bleeds quit a bit. A little pressure and some neosporin with pain relief oinment will help. It takes awhile to get proficient. I been here over a year and still catch the vein every so often.

I hit the vein several times a week. I try no to but I test often and need good spots. It does not hurt Davidson or bother him - more blood comes out so I don't need to squish his ear at all.........yup, just pinch with cotton for 15-30 seconds and all good. I never use neosporin just clean hands and new cotton pieces all the time.

Yep, me too, I test frequently and I would say that I probably hit the vein at least 2 a week, and Bubba doesn't seem to act like he bothered him. As others said, it bleeds a bit more and a little pressure and some to get it to stop and a little Neosporin if that makes you feel better. I rarely use the Neosporin any more. I did at one time when his ears looked red and a bit swollen.

Thanks. I put a dab of Silver first aid gel on her. Also as well, doesn’t ever seem to bother her?!

I am NOT in a rush, just asking... when you increase the dose by 1/2 units is there not usually any noticeable difference in numbers until a day or so later? Nelli system ‘reads’ as though she did not get .05 increase at 8a this morning.
Unfortunately, will only be able to do a PM +one and then a PM +10. Friday nights and Saturday morning with my business are very, very tough for me. I have to leave house by five... can/will zip back around six then come back again at 7:30 and stay until nine.
Friday nights Saturday early mornings are my only trouble times with... TR protocol :-|

Here’s a detailed post on New Dose Wonkiness. The other thing to remember is, when you change the dose, it takes time for the depot to fill and start to see any potential effect on the BG.

We tested a lot and my husband only accidentally poked the vein once early on. It bled like crazy. We made sure that didn’t happen again. I suspect it hurts.

Hello! On a completely different side note...:) I take 2 sheets of the select-a-size scot towel, fold in half, cut, fold in half, cut again, I keep folding until I can cut 1.5 - 1.75-inch squares. I put them into a tiny plastic container to store them and keep them by the sink in the bathroom where I test Dante. Just before testing, I wet the paper towel square with water, for me, it is a lot cheaper than cotton... that is me being frugal! :)

Just go for the edge
