Prick myself and then injected her

I’m freaking out and I’m not doing the sub Q fluids very well! Today I was so stressed about getting everything right that the needle pricked me, but I didn’t think it broke the skin until after I administered the sub Q fluids I started bleeding. The vet said it should be fine, but that they’ve never heard of this happening before so I feel awful.

If they've never herd of it happening, vet hasn't been talking to any of us here on FDMB.
I've pricked myself with Sub-Q needles and also with insulin syringes. Not very often but enough to make it memorable.
Those suckers are sharp ! There's no terrible consequence to you. If you're worried about the integrity of the needle, change it out for a new one.
And stock up on bandaids for yourself.

You'll get better at it.

Those sub q needles are harpoons 🫣 I'm sure every vet and vet tech has accidentally poked themself with a needle more than once in their career. It happens. Do you need tips on how to give sub q fluids?

Thank you! I was mostly concerned for her, and her getting MY blood. The fluids ran over the needle before we punctured her, but I can’t believe I didn’t use another needle if it touched my skin!!! That’s what I’m so upset with myself about. My whole body starts trembling, I get so nervous, and based on today, I’m afraid I’m not thinking clearly. Thank you again for your message. If my anxiety continues to cause me to make these kind of mistakes, I’ll get assistance.

Pretty sure we are taking the Murphy’s Law course, but I hope we have completed it. The first attempt had too rapid of flow. When I say am bad at this, I mean it. When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. That dream died when I started having these kind of physical reactions to administering certain care, blood, needles, etc. Thank you very much though! I know what I’m supposed to do, but my nerves are having trouble adjusting, and I panic. :(
