So is the 78 at +11, or is it +12 and you just put it in that box. If it's only +11 right now, wait and retest at shot time and let's see where he is. Take a deep breath. This is actually a really good sign!

Sorry, it's time for his shot. I try for noon. I put in the wrong box. Just checked and its up to 80.

Sorry to bother you at work but I'm worrying and I'm a mess. Thank you by the way!

Oh, and just in case I miss you when you post (I'm at work right now), definitely no shot if he stays this low!!!

He's wanting something to eat is it ok to go ahead and feed him? Then just test during the day and possibly do the shot tonight? :arghh: I don't know what I'm doing.

Oh, and the insulin doesn't last that many hours in a cat, so if he goes any lower at this point it's on his own power, so try not to worry. Most likely he'll start to slowly climb over the next few hours. Just keep him on low carbs as much as you can so he doesn't go too high tonight.

Oh, bless your heart!

So here's what I'm seeing: he rose after nadir, but then went down again, and after the point where the insulin is/has worn off. That indicates that his pancreas is kicking back in which is a really good sign. It might mean that he's heading towards healing. Time will tell.

What should I do if he gets like back in the 20/30s again?
It's very unlikely that that would happen since the insulin has worn off at this point. There are some cats that will naturally run in the 40's, but that's about as low as they get on their own power. Wait a couple of hours and test again, but he should be fine the rest of the night. On the occasions when I would get a NS cycle, I would usually just give his ears the night off and pour myself a glass of wine to celebrate! Since this is your first one, it would be good to get a test to see where he's going, but mostly you can relax for this cycle.

I'm really ugly crying now. I can't explain what you've ment to me today. Thank you!!!! I will definitely test in a bit. He just ate for me too, not an big amount but did do some fancy fest for me and no science diet mixed in. But he did eat!

Nice! That is a perfect number without insulin. It’s actually+15 since your last shot?
Sorry i ment since his last test at noon, but i guess your right. Thank you! I was just wondering what a normal number was supposed to be without insulin. Yeah my girls won't let me try it on them and with them healthy and strong I'd probably bleed out before I'd get the test done. LOL

He should put some weight back on, now that his body can utilize the food better. What was his weight before diabetes?
I really hope so. He was around 7 pounds when I last had at the vet when I found out he had diabetes. Before that I'm not real sure what he weighed, had had him in awhile, to Eye ball what he'd been in the past I'd say 10/12 pounds.

Well Junior's numbers are staying down. Just tested and he's reading 67mg @ +10 from the last supposed shoot time and what +22 from his last real shot. He regular shoot time would be midnight but things are looking good and I'm guessing we're not gonna do it. He's been a different cat today, wow is all i can say. Oh of course trying to just now test him he had a complete fit and carried on, so that hasn't changed. LOL. But still can't believe this. I know that he can change and I should enjoy this, it doesn't seem real. I want to send a big thank you out to @Djamila for your help this morning and afternoon and @Sharon14.

Holy moly 81@ Preshoot time, guess that means we're good for the night. Hopefully we both can get some much need rest tonight. Thanks @Djamila for the heads up on the probiotic, I ordered some today and it should be here Monday. You'll have to share your information with me on how to use it, if you don't mind.

What a nice long run of greens! He’s looking good!

The box has 30 little packets. Since I just used it for flavor, I would open the packet and just sprinkle a little on the top of the food, kind of like if you were salting it. One packet would usually last four meals. Over time I could use less and less, and most of the time now he doesn’t need it. Although I still do it on days when he’s begging for treats but I want him to eat actual food.

At the very beginning, I would usually have to sprinkle it on, he would lick it off the top, and then an hour or so later I would stir his food and sprinkle a little more. Then he would lick it off the top again. Repeat over and over until he’s finally had enough food. But he was a hard core kibble addict, so it was a tough transition to get him to wet food.
