We are leaving to go on vacation in a few weeks, and my father-in-law will be taking care of our kitty. He's given him his insulin shots before, but I was wondering if it's possible to prefill syringes up to a week ahead of time. I just want to make it as easy as possible for him! Oh, and we are using ProZinc.

You may want to go over to the PZI group and ask this question. That way you will get a answer from experts who are using Prozinc. I myself would like to know the answer to this one because we are think of going out of town in a month. I know that my vet did it for me when I first started shooting and was not comfortable with filling them myself however I dont know if he should have done that. cat_pet_icon

Due to the potential contamination of the insulin by the syringe lubricant, we do not advise this.

Preparing a reference syringe with a clear marking of where the fill should be is a good idea. My housemate misread new syringes and gave 10 units instead of 1 which resulted in a very expensive emergency vet visit and could have killed Spitzer.

I am new at this. Everyone keeps telling me to join the PZI group. I can't seem to find anything labeled PZI group. How do I do this?

In the list of groups that show up when you first sign on, there is one called Insulin Support Groups (ISG).

Click on that.
Within that are several sub -groups or forums.
Select the forum named PZI.

Or a shortcut
Click on the word PZI within that Insulin Support Groups(ISG) and it will take you directly to the PZI forum.
