Prednisolone to treat pancreatitis?

I don't think I could add anything to that excellent article. But good luck with your baby. My Chase beat it twice in his life and recovered fully.

While you trat the pancreatitis, you may need to adjust the insulin dose. That's OK to do.
 
Sabrina is not a diabetic. My GA cat was. The vet prescribed prednisolone to treat the pancreatitis along with cerenia. I am very ambivalent to start the steroids fearing her developing diabetes. She is also on a anti-biotic because of a bacterial infection. I have been doing a lot of reading and found out pred should not be combined with other drugs? Why would my vet prescribe this then? Any info or help would be greatly appreciated! Not going to start prednisolone until I am completely informed.
 
Prednisolone is a steroid.
Steroids suppress immune function, so you have to be careful prescribing them during infection OR provide something to help fight off infection ... which your vet did with the antibiotic.
