Need prayers for my baby.....his asthma has really started acting up again this week...he has been on insulin for almost 3 weeks ago. Same asthma meds for over a yr and nothing helped his destress....Took him to ER at 1am on Saturday & he is stable again but I'm really worried & could just use prayers!

Prayers, healing vibes and :bighug::bighug::bighug: on their way ...

Be sure to keep us updated with Bo's progress. Fingers and paws crossed for Bo to feel much better very, very soon.

Do you ever give Bo breathing treatments? A friend has an asthmatic cat and that's how she treats him.

Keeping you and your Bo in my thoughts

Oh, no, poor baby. :bighug: What mediation does he take for asthma? Can you share what happened that made you have to take him to the ER?

Yes, he has history of steroid meds so we switched to Atopica due diabetes now. He takes that daily, inhaler as needed and we had an emergency injection left but after all failed to work and he was still mouth breathing we took to ER. Dr said I did everything she would have done, except of course oxygen...

We've had members here who manage asthma alongside diabetes. It might be worth you posting a question on Feline Health asking for help and advice on medications and insulin management for an asthmatic, diabetic kitty.

Do keep in mind that, though it's not ideal, sometimes it's absolutely necessary to prioritise treatments for other concurrent medical issues and work insulin requirements around them. Every cat really is different.

Some member have used the Aerokat Inhaler. Although the medication used is a steroid it does not have as much an effect on the system as oral steroids.

Video of how to use:

ETA Critter Mom has it right. You treat the asthma first and work the diabetes treatment around that. Asthma trumps FD for diabetes
