Poultry-free cat food?

One of my high school friends has a cat that has a poultry allergy. anyone know of a cat food that does not have any poultry in it?

There's quite a few! I would say her easiest bet is to go with the 95/96% variety foods because you know for sure there isn't poultry in the by-products since they don't have any. EVO has 95% Beef, Venison, or Salmon; Merrick's has 96% Beef, Salmon, or Tuna, and also their Cowboy Cookout and Surf n Turf flavors have no poultry; and Nature's Variety Instinct Beef, Lamb, Rabbit, or Venison formulas have no poultry.

I don't know if a poultry allergy automatically means an egg allergy. That is why I separated the lists. I went through a food sensitivity trial with my civie, Minou. Vets usually recommend as few ingredients as possible. We used EVO 95% venison, ZiwiPeak venison, and d/d venison (prescription). She liked the ZiwiPeak the best, but that is really expensive.

Look for Natural Balance Limited ingredient foods. There is venison and geen pea, duck and green pea, and salmon and green pea.

Here's a new poultry-free dehydrated raw food: Addiction Raw Dehydrated Wild Brushtail and Berries Entree You rehydrated the food with water before serving. I feed a similar product (The Honest Kitchen's Prowl) and use enough water to make the food kind of soupy but with some texture like canned food.

Brustail is a marsupial and I guess that would be a novel protein source for cats with allergies to other proteins.

The food is kind of pricey, about $30 for a 2 pound box. OnlyNaturalPet.com is one online place that sells it, currently for $26.5 and you can find 10% off coupons to use. A non-chain pet store may be able to order the food.

We went through this when Willie was first diagnosed as he had a skin condition that turned out be pemphigus, but the vet suspected poultry allergy at first, and we were told to eliminate all poultry and eggs.

Lots of good suggestions... Wellness Core has a fish option but it, like the Natural Balance varieties, are a bit higher in carbs, so if FD is an issue you should take that into consideration. Also monitor carefully when giving beef varieties as not all cats tolerate beef well.

For treats, we used freeze dried shrimp and salmon treats from Petsmart.
