Hi

When my boy was diagnosed with DM back in April we also found that his potassium levels were too low (2.3 mmol/L) so we started giving him oral potassium and he progressively began to improve. When he reached 4.1 mmol/L our vet reduced the dose to half.

Last Wednesday we went to check it again and his potassium levels dropped again to to 3.4 mmol/L even taking potassium.

Has been very difficult to regulate him and his hind legs are really weak (due to diabetic neuropathy ??? or to muscle weakness caused by low potassium levels ?????) our vet wants us to go to an endocrinologist. I already made an appointment.

What is your opinion about this?

Based on the high BGs I would say the hong leg weakness is due to high BGs as shown in your SS.
What insulin are you using? I would add that to your signature.
Are you now feeding all low-carb canned food?

Hi Larry

Has I usually write on Prozinc Forum I forgot to put that we are using Prozinc and a human meter but I already put it in signatire as you sugest. TY

But this was a general question and I thought to write it here.

I'm giving him B12 + folate ---- to mimic Zobaline has we don't have it here.
In the begining he was eating a grain free dry - Farmina.
But now he is almost without dry food. I just leave him one tbs during the night otherwise he meows all night.
I usually give him wet when i go to bed (around +3PS), if I put wet for him for a later meal he eats all at once.
I going to order a feeder with timer because I only have those that open with microchip - because I was afraid that he could steal my other cats food.

I don't have advice but I do have prayers... I had a kitty whose potassium crashed, I hope the doctors can figure it out:bighug:
