Yes, for the long-timers, that Polly!

Although we haven't been here for a long, long time. About nine months. Today is a day Miss Polly and I owe to Lantus Land and all those who walked with us, encouraged us, and taught us so much. So much, indeed.

Without LL, we'd have never known about acromegaly. Polly has it.
Without LL, we'd have never known about SRT. Polly had it three years ago this week.
Without LL, we'd have never known about TR. We did it.
Without LL, Polly would never have gone OTJ. Unconventionally, for sure. Hey, that's the Polly. But she's been OTJ for three months 'cept for a short glitch six weeks or so ago.

I don't have the words for my gratitude. But maybe this picture, taken just a wee bit ago, will show the power of this place and all the people here:

For a girl on the far side of 15, she's doing great. Still gets to the top of the cat tree, can surf contraband off the kitchen counters, sink dives if I don't get the dishes cleaned fast enough, crap dashes with a furry at times, keeps her hockey stroke in fine form, and purrs up a storm in the early hours of morning when she decides it's time for the bean to rise and shine.

For everything, as I get a little weepy, thank you.

Know that we often look to the stars with love and gratitude for all those who walked this often difficult path with us and have now Gone Ahead. So many. Each gave us so much. And we remember.

Oh my goodness. Polly is gorgeous! What a beautiful and touching post Marilyn. You made me teary eyed!! That is so nice to hear that your Acro kitty is doing so well. Beenie is my little monkey that was Dx with FD in May of this year. She was recently diagnosed with Acro and IAA. It is so good to hear all the positive and inspiring stories about these special kitties. There are so many more big gulpers even since we started this journey on FDMB and more and more are getting testing done.
Beenie just started cabergoline, a trial drug, to treat Acro kitties. We're so far seeing results:)

Thank you for your post and I agree whole heartily that we would not be where we are without LL:bighug::bighug:

Hi Marilyn. This is the best of news. I'm so happy for you. Polly looks fabulous and I'm glad to hear she's feeling as good as she looks. I've wondered how you all were doing from time to time. Hope you and the rest of your crew are as well as our Polly!

Marilyn - Thanks for sharing your story, so beautiful! Coral and Joy sends purrs and licks to a comrade in fur! Bet they would love to play together! Hugs, Kathe

Marilyn it is great to hear from you. What wonderful news that Polly is OTJ. I've been thinking about you and wondering how you and your crew are doing. I hope the rest are doing well too.

Marilyn!!!!!

I'm beyond delighted to see your post and hear how well Miss Polly Wobble Doodle is doing! I've missed your humor and your kindness so much. Congratulations to you both! Wendy told me, too, when she saw Polly'd gone OTJ. I was so happy for you!

I'm so sorry you lost Will (I stalked you on FB because I was worried about you). I'm sure he's smiling from the bridge to see Polly looking fit and happy. Please do update us on the rest of your furry crew, and don't be a stranger!
:bighug:

Marilyn!!! And Polly!!! I'm so glad to see you! What a great Polly report - Wendy did tell me that Polly had gone OTJ and I did a little happy dance for you both.

I'm lost in grandma-land these days, with my eldest daughter, her husband and baby living with us - so that's what takes up all of my extra time these days. Oh yeah, and they come with 2 cats and a dog, too. It's a crazy time.

The days in LLL were good ones, with lots of great memories.

Polly looks wonderful. Give her an extra hug from me.

You made me cry, too! What a beautiful tribute to everyone at FDMB who helped you and Polly. I am so extraordinarily happy for you both! :joyful:

So good to see a post from you. I was actually just thinking of Polly the other day and wondering how she was doing. I am so glad that she is doing so well - that is just awesome. And she looks fantastic.

L&LL has lost so many old-timers that were around when I first started here three years ago and it is nice to also see the happy OTC stories.

That is so inspiring Marilyn. I too would have never known about TR, SRT, Acromegaly, etc without this board. Bronx had SRT done in May and Polly's story gives me so much hope that Bronx too can maybe one day go OTJ :)

Polly walks her own odd path. The reduced dose during SRT began climbing until after a month or so post SRT she was back to her max dose, 10.5 U. Took forever for her to wobble her way down the dose scale from there. Ever so slowly. With some long stops at some doses along the way. She spent the last year or so (two years out from SRT) bobbling between 0.5 and 0.25 U. All was well. Then in June, this year, she got really sick. Probably p'titis. Almost a week of syringe feeding, lots of diarrhea, and intensive home care. After that, I was just too worried about low numbers, held her off insulin, and....she did fine!

Polly has none of the attendant acro issues. Her heart is good. Kidneys fine. No arthritis. We were blessed.

I hope Bronx is equally blessed. But I do hope he finds an easier, less bobble-filled path on the journey post SRT!
