Pmps dosing help

Hey all. So earlier at his +7 oj hit 113. Now at his 11.5+ hes all the way back up to 693??? He ate a can and a half of fancy feast pate about half hour ago. I checked his ear twice. One side said 730 first, then i immediately did the other ear and it said 693. So should i stick with his 2.5 unit dose for bedtime?? I still have to give him his gabapentin in a few minutes as well
 
How do i avoid the bouncing? Was the 2.5 earlier too much bringing him too low? Should i have given him higher carb food at the 113 to keep him more even? I still dont understand a lot of this and it was our first blue number. I was feeling so happy. Now i feel all meh again. He did just pee though and ketones are back in the negative at least. Just gave his gabapentin, i'll do his shot now

When a cat’s bg drops lower than they are used to they tend to bounce. They also bounce if the bg drops too quickly. As they get used to lower numbers bounces happen less often and are shorter.

Sorry, someone earlier said to change the thread title if i needed pm dosing help. I thought that meant to make a new thread. My mistake

Gotcha. So i should stick to the 2.5 based on his numbers and he'll gradually get used to it?? Does this usually happen in 'x' amount of cycles? Or it kind of varies per kitty? I just dont want his numbers staying so high especially with his dka
 
There’s a lot to learn. If you head over to the LLB site Christie where suggested you post toy will see stickies at the top. They explain how Lantus works. and the dosing methods we use here. After you read them you will have many questions that we will be happy to answer.

How long you hold the dose depends upon lots of factors. One is how low the dose takes your cat. The other is which method you choose to follow., SLGS or TR.

Okay. Right now im trying to Get him low asap because nobody will take his bad tooth out with numbers so high. And i've been to the vet on a weekly basis because of dehydration because he just drinks and pees all day so he's not absorbing anything. Plus the ketones. Today is only the second day i've been to 2.5units and its also the second day of being on the gabapentin for his tooth. So not sure which one might be playing a part. But i'll go through the lantus feeds again. I read through a lot of the stickies already but this is so new to me and im having so many issues with vets that everything is like overwhelming. Just want to do my best for him
 
I know it’s overwhelming. If you are in a hurry to get him able to have a dental, I would follow TR. You can increase the dose every 3-5 days depend in the nadir. With SLGS you hold the dose for a week and then do a curve. With TR reductions are taken if there’s a drop under 68 since you are using an AT. With SLGS you take reductions if he falls under 90. Please do start posting on the LLB forum as if you want to be aggressive you will have more experienced Lantus people there. Does this help?

Definitely am. Some vets i've talked to def think the bad tooth is whats causing his spikes as well as making him picky with eating from time to time thus raising his ketones as well. So i have to get him lower so someone will attempt to take it out and this will maybe get a bit easier. Im off to bed now but i'll post there tomorrow. Thanks~~
 
Posted on the lantus forum, no replies back yet but heres a picture of juicy boy begging for food at the table like the good ole days. Im happy that even with his high levels for the most part he's acting more like his normal self these days
