From yesterday's post
+6 300, +8 325, +10 297

PMPS was 340
Chinookie then eats about 3oz and gets 4 units.
+2= 267

Today: AMPS 172, + 2 227 gave 1 unit, +6 for normal AM shot time 275

PMPS is 280

This is pretty good right? He's eating 3oz of food right now. Should I give one unit again? Two units this time? I'm supposed to be giving four units.

Thank you Larry, I'll do that now and post +2 and +4. Hopefully in the morning it's ok, because I have a long stretch at work tomorrow. Fortunately my work schedule is mostly flexible, i can get home for lunch, etc, but when it's not, it's not....

I really appreciate you guys. I also just purchased some zobaline for Chinookie to see if it helps with his neuropathy. He gets around, but is stiff. I've been through all manner of transitions the last few month, moving, new job, marriage, and my husband starts a new job Thursday. It's been all I can do since may to get the vet appts. And insulin b.i.d. But now, things are calming down and we're all settling in. I'm confident that with the knowledge I'm gaining, I'm going to be able to do as much as possible to help this poor kitty that needed a home and picked us.

Ok, so +2= 224
Should I look for it to be going lower at +4? And then maybe peak will be +6?

Chinookie gets another 3oz of food at bedtime - so he won't go too low during the night, right?

So maybe another day of doing 1.5 units and if the numbers stay like they are going, then we try 2 units.

Or is it too early to think that?? Just trying to think ahead to what the plan should be...

Humulin is based more on the preshot value than other insulins. You do need to know how low a particular dose drops your cat to see how much to dose.

Yes, the BG should be lower by +4 and then drop even lower and go back up. Some cats have a later nadir or low, some cats have an earlier nadir or low. Know thy cat.

Nadir could be at +5 or +7, not necessarily at +6. You might want to try a +5 and/or a +7. It can change from day to day too. It's not a set time. So you have to do some tests around that +5 to +7 time block to find the nadir for your cat. ECID. Every Cat is Different.
