Someone please review Skittles spreadsheet. She continues to drop today and this is new for us. She receives her next dose of Lantus in 3 hours, 8 pm central USA time. She now has her Libre. It’s great but I continue to test her blood until stabilization occurs. Hopefully my link will be fine. Someone on this site kindly fixed it for me. Thank you.

those look like great numbers to me, unless she keeps going down. When did she eat last and you said 3 hours so you tested her an hour ago? If so, can you retest her now? How different are the numbers you’re getting from the libre?

She free feeds all day with Fancy Feast Pate naturals. The Libre is amazing. It is like when I used a human meter I got from Walgreens. It runs 20-30 points lower then the Alphatrak. For example, when I tested her at 4:40 pm 85 Alphatrak and 66 Libre. Right now I used Libre only and it was 161. I will test her blood before shot. I just don’t know if I should give one unit or go down.

That’s great as she’s going up, especially if the Libre tends to be lower. It just means she had a late nadir at +8 but again, great numbers. Let’s see her pmps :bighug:

I think with the alpha track you go down if she gets below 68 on Lantus on her nadir and she was at 85, so if the pmps number is above 180-200 which looks like it will be, stay with the same dose.
But I’ll defer to anyone more experience if they feel differently!

To tell you honestly, I don’t know. I am learning now that it is best to keep the same dose for about a week. I am so new to this and I fired my vet because she didn’t care about me testing Skittles before shooting. I just will not do that anymore!
Ha! No worries and that’s what I thought. We all make mistakes at first until you get that feeling okay I got this and also until you get to know your cat as @Deb & Wink always days ECID every cat is different. Deb, can I get eyes on her numbers to make sure I’m correct? Thanks!

I'd stick with the 1U dose for now but I would like to see you get some tests at different points in the cycle other than just +4 and +8 if at all possible and an earlier test on the PM cycle.

Getting a +2 can almost act like a crystal ball and give you a pretty good idea of what's going to happen later in the cycle. (for some cats, the +3 is better)

Thank you Chris!

Karen, Chris already responded to you, so I won't say anything more.

Except to ask you to please update your User Id Signature and add the diagnosis date, the insulin used, the meter used, food fed, etc. It really helps to have all that information at a glance, at the bottom of each of your posts.

We do have a Lantus specific forum here. You probably want to check it out, and start to post over there for help.
