Hello, Sorry to say, I recently lost my job and have no money and desperately need Lantus (Glargine) for my 16 yr old kitty. Noted a message on Facebook on the FD website and referred here. If anyone can help me please. I can give you things from my home, dvd's or furniture. Please. Thank you.

Do you have a prescription for Lantus? If you get a prescription for the solostar pens, you can sign up for the Lantus savings card, which will cost you $25 for each pen. Call your local pharmacies to see if any of them are willing to sell you one pen at a time. Be sure to call the hospital pharmacies too.

When you complete the savings card form, be sure to list your cast as being 18 yrs old.

You can also contact DCIN to see if they are able to assist you. You will need to have a valid prescription.

And you can also check on supply closet forum, sometimes people are selling or giving away Lantus on there.

I'd also suggest posting on the Health board here. There's also a "Supply Closet" forum and a "Community" forum. People may be offering Lantus in those places or asking there may be helpful. I'd also check on Craig's List. Some people have found Lantus being offered there.

I wish I had insulin to pass onto you .. I did look up insulin in Phoenix and found a few links, if you are interested in going that route ..

There were quite a few others, at different prices .. I know you said you don't have any money, but sometimes if you explain your situation to people (especially other diabetics) they are willing to help if they can .. It won't hurt to try ...

When I found boxes of Lantus pens on my local Craig's List, the person gave them to me for FREE when she learned they were for a diabetic cat. She also donated several to DCIN, and they were passed on to HART of Maine.

So it definitely doesn't hurt to ask!

   Wow. I think 5 pens here is close to $300 now. I also pay $57 for one pen.

Hi, you might also check with your local Humane Society & also any vet groups in your area. I donated my Prozinc to out vet's 'Animals in Need Fund' for pets like yours. I;ve also donated medical supplies to our Humane Society & our HS actually donates food & supplies to people in the community in need.

Good luck - I hope you're able to find some Lantus for your kitty!

It disappoints me when someone comes onto the FDMB and multiple other sites (three Facebook sites for Melody that I have seen) asking for assistance, getting various offers of what she needs or suggestions on how to get what she needs, and never answering back on any of the sites. Melody hasn't signed onto the FDMB since her posting on September 10. I wonder...did the cat die? Did Melody win the lottery? No info, yet here we sit with a 911 on the post, but apparently not "emergency" enough for Melody to follow up on the effort that others have put into answering and making offers to her.

Melody --

I hope you found the Lantus you were looking for and that your kitty is OK. If you have a minute, could you provide a brief update?

Melody posted on the Feline Diabetes Facebook page past night that her cat had died. Fly free, kitty.

Oh, that's terrible news. I hope her life starts looking up. It seems she's in a bit of a rough spot. Fly free, lil kitty. wings_cat
