I signed up ayesterday and I can't find the Feline Health Site that you refer to. My sweet baby was diagnosed yesterday, he's in the hospital. I can't stop crying, I'm scared, I'm alone, in my 50's, I pray he pulls through. He's 13 and I caught it in the late stage. I did'nt even know cats could get this terrible illness. With my Bently so sick, not knowing if he's going to make it scariers the heck out of me. And when (I hope) he comes home, I'm scared about doing everything right. I mean his life would be in my hands. I'm so sick with stress. Oh I'm so sorry for rambling. My point was, I can't find my way aroung the forum, or how to post. Can someone please help. I really need a friend right now.

We will have a few questions for you if you can answer:

1. Is Bently in the hospital for DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) or for something else?
2. Do you know what insulin they will be wanting you to use?
3. What foods are you currently feeding Bently?
4. Where are you located? There might be someone who lives close by that could offer a hand.

Hello, and welcome to FDMB

Sweetie, I know you're in a difficult place right now but we are here for you. Please believe that.
All of us here have been where you are at this moment, so we do really understand the stress and anxiety you are feeling.

KPassa has asked you some important questions that will help us to understand Bently's situation.

But let me reassure you that diabetes is treatable. And a diabetic cat can live as long and happy a life as a non-diabetic cat. (My own diabetic boy was diagnosed 7 years ago.)

Here's a big reassuring (((HUG))) for you.

Eliz

Please can you tell us where you are located, maybe we have someone close that can come to help you.
We will do everything we can to help you and Bently.

Terri

Hello,

It's a terrible illness, but we need to have faith. Most importantly we need to learn as much as we can about the illness and do our best to take care of our babies. I am still in the learning process and trying my best to regulate the blood sugar of my baby Juno. He has been diagnosed one month ago and I thought he wouldn't survive until March. I spent the last month stressed, crying, feeling lonely (I'm leaving abroad... and without family around) and just like you scared to death about doing something wrong. I still do... I want to let you know that you are not alone, and here there are many wonderful people who can help you treating your sweet Bently.

Cristina

You're not alone!! We are here to help you learn to manage this. And it IS manageable. Before you know it you'll be an expert on feline diabetes.

Please know that we can help and we want to. Don't feel like you have to go through this alone! You have a ton of knowledgable people here. We WANT to help since we are paying it forward from when we were new. Let us know about what KPassa asked so we can help!
