Please help. Low glucose

Hi everyone so it is time for chocolates second dose of insulin but he has been in low numbers all day. He has been in the 80s range and now he’s 130. He gets 1.5 units but I’m afraid to give him any insulin right now. Won’t he drop too low ?? He’s taking vetsulin.
 
It would be helpful if you could fill in your spreadsheet so we can see what is happening. If he has had DKA it is important he gets some insulin.
Is he eating well? How much is he eating a day? Ae you feeding snacks during the cycles.
Are you feeding him then waiting 30 minutes before you give the dose of insulin?
Are you testing the urine for ketones?
 
Hi there. I am at work and will fill out the spreadsheet this afternoon. He is eating about two cans a day so about 180 ml that is what the vet told us to feed him. He is tube fed so I feed him each time before insulin and a couple snacks through out the day. Yes I do wait half an hour before insulin and yes he is tested for ketones.
Should I feed him more ? I am only feeding him low calorie fancy feast should I maybe feed him medium carbs ? His glucose stayed about 100 the whole day yesterday. He did have a spike of 320 and then it went down on its own and dropped to 70 2 hours before insulin so I did not want to inject him that low. Any suggestions to what I should do next time? Should I feed him a high carb food and then shoot ??
 
It will be helpful when we can see what is in to your SS. Then we can help you with dosing.
Are you giving him antinausea medications?
I would feed him more than 2 fancy feast cans a day. A cat that is recovering from DKA needs lots of food. I would continue with low carb foods unless the BG drops low.
dropping to 70 2 hours before the next shot sounds unusual.
I can’t really comment on dosing until I see the spreadsheet sorry.
But it’s not a good idea to skip doses when recovering from DKA.
I am going to bed now but will answer any queries tomorrow. In the meantime I will tag @Suzanne & Darcy
 
Have you been decreasing by 1/4 unit every time he goes under 90? We really do need to see the number in the spreadsheet, otherwise, we can’t spot the pattern of his bg and can’t give proper advice.
