Looking for advice based on Kittys recent numbers.
I am thinking decreasing to 1.0 units from 1.25.
Not sure if that is enough of a decrease though.

You'll find out soon enough if 1 unit was enough or if he needs to go down more. Boy, when he wants to shoot up he can really go up but I doubt he is truly at that number. Some meters read higher than they actually are once you get into the high 300's and 400's.

Whatever was in that can of Friskies, put it aside and save it in case he has another major drop you need to stop. It worked too well nailbite_smile

That Friskies had the highest carbs.
Probably gave to much. 3/4 of a 5.5 oz can.

You're probably right-my boys eat.a can and a half (each) a day. He ate half a day's worth at once.

Hopefully I wont have to do that again.
We'll see what the rest of the evening brings.

I just read your posts...I vote for 1 unit and see what happens for a few days!

All for that after today.
Last night .5 brought him down. However I gave it 2 hours later than normal due to low numbers from the last 1.25 units.
Carl and Hope I believe had been suggesting that I bring it down. However an amount had not been discussed.

Seem the 1 unit kept Kitty in the 100's though the night. +11 was 199 and the AMPS was 230.
Since his number are still low and not wanting a repeat of yesterday I am going to go with .75u.

Sev<-- Going broke on test strips.

You know, you really don't have to tes quite so often. Ps & +6 are enough most days, ane you can curve once a week. It's nice to have as.much info as you do, but there's no point in going broke.

Oh I know.
I wont be home as much now that I have restarted a project.

Todays numbers are looking promising with the .75u's. He is dropping slowly. Hopefully the evening numbers will show a slow rise as well.

Def a lot less stress than yesterday. :-D

Sev, with Kitty I would do the usual amps and pmps tests. The I would test him at +2, see what you get, and then +4 and then +6. that way you can back off on the testing and get an idea of where he is going. With Kitty I wouldn't shoot and not test till +6. He's moving nicely on the .75, at least for now, but .75 might still be too much. We'll see what he does today.

Yah I am going to start backing off on all testing unless I see something suspicious.
I am glad I went with my gut and went down to .75.
Afternoon Hope.
About to do +6 test.

Check out his new blood work in the main forum.
Let me know what you think.

The new vet is very pleased and recommended staying with the .75 for about 4 days to see where kitty settles to.

Great news on the bloodwork ....see on first page from previous vet they had him down as a dog ohmygod_smile I also see he is down to 52 but not dropping like a rock today. Every hr. I was looking for a test and was wondering if you'd get there in time to do at least a +5.

Have to see what his pmps is and what he does for the rest of the day as to whether he'll stay safe at .75 or better at .5. At some point you have to go to work to earn money to buy more test strips and cat fud ;-)

I just gave both cats 1 oz of Freshpet as a snack. It doesnt seem to effect Kittys number as it is whole meat.

What a great day for Kitty!!!
Very smooth all day.
And then there was the second half.

But the second half didn't go as high as he usually does. Great day today. Let's hope he doesn't pull a downer tomorrow on .75. I don't trust your Kitty

Well he is an executive cat.

And down he comes.....hopefully. I'd hate to be betting on his numbers for money

Well if you look at +3 and 4 he is only slightly higher than last night.
And the movement between +1 and 2 is small just like last night as well.
Smaller dosage is also starting out 59 points lower so that should be good.
However it looks like he has slowed @ +5

Hmmmm. 261 this morning.
@ +8 he was 315.

Thats a long slow decline.

Any thoughts?

You aren't on now so I'll post here. Not a good day shaping up. I would feed him 1/2 can of that Friskies, no more, and see if we can slow that fast drop down. Would also suggest maybe .5 in the a.m. and .75 in the pm. His am numbers are much lower and pm are higher.

Still going down. 2.5 is @55.
Jesus.

All I can say is I am sure glad I did not listen to that 2 unit advice by the previous vet.

Ok.
He dropped to 89 @ +6.
The rest of the day should be interesting.
Could be a fluke.
6.5 was 167.

What the heck kinda drop was that.
I agree on the .5! looks like he is doing quite well!!

I like all those greens and blues myself.

Not clear on which drop you are talking about. The insulin or the glucose numbers?

Is that .5 in the morning and .75 at night that you are referring to?

I agree with Robin, Love the blues and greens, but want t o make sure he is ok
and does not drop too low
!

This is only the second day on .75 from 1.25. Do I want to keep switching doses so fast?

Depends.
I don't get why the night time cycles look crappy until the next morning.... like the night time nadir and onset just happens later than the day time ones.
Those day time lows are kind of exciting though. It sure would be nice if Kitty were consistent day and night.

If you can live with the stress of the day time numbers, I'd stick with the .75 and see if he somehow levels out.....not as low during the day, and lower (and sooner) at night.
If you can't be around to rescue him from the greens during the day time, then dropping to .5 probably makes sense.

Yah it seems he has an odd metabolism. I cant explain it.
Lets see where he is in the morning.
Looks like he is following the same pattern tonight. Might even go lower as he is 50 points lower now than at the same time last night.
